Rediscovering Adventure: Trekking to Asherigad Fort near Dahanu
After months of being confined indoors due to the lockdown, my three friends and I decided to break free from the monotony and go for a short trek to Asherigad Fort near Dahanu. It was early January 2021 when the first lockdown was lifted, and we eagerly set off on our adventure. Armed with enthusiasm and riding our trusty scooty, we left Boisar in the early morning, ready to embrace the great outdoors once again.
The
journey from Boisar to the base camp of Asherigad Fort took us approximately
1.5 hours. The scenic route, winding through picturesque landscapes,
rejuvenated our spirits. As we neared the base camp, excitement mingled with a
sense of anticipation for the trek that lay ahead.
The
difficulty level of the Asherigad Fort trek was considered moderate, making it
an ideal choice for our short excursion. With our backpacks strapped firmly, we
began our ascent. The trail meandered through lush greenery, with intermittent
rocky patches that tested our agility. The crisp mountain air filled our lungs,
and with each step, we felt a renewed sense of freedom and exhilaration.
Surprisingly,
we were not the only ones seeking solace in nature that day. We encountered a
group of enthusiastic school kids from Mumbai, their laughter echoing through
the hills. It was heartening to witness young minds appreciating the wonders of
the outdoors and fostering a love for adventure.
However,
what truly inspired us was the sight of older individuals, well into their
golden years nearly 60+,
scaling the trek with unwavering determination. These seasoned climbers were a
testament to the timeless pursuit of fitness and the indomitable spirit that
age could not hinder. It was a reminder that there are no age limits to
embracing the beauty of nature and challenging oneself physically.
After
a thrilling climb, we finally reached the summit of Asherigad Fort. The
panoramic view that unfolded before us was nothing short of breathtaking. From
this vantage point, we could behold the expansive highway, a ribbon of movement
cutting through the surrounding landscape. The sight instilled a sense of awe
and humility, reminding us of the vastness of the world beyond our daily
routines.
Standing
atop Asherigad Fort, we found solace and tranquility in the quietude of nature.
It was as if the mountain itself whispered tales of resilience and unwavering
strength. The trek not only provided a much-needed escape from the chaos of
everyday life but also offered us a chance to reconnect with ourselves, our
friends, and the beauty of the world.
The
trek to Asherigad Fort near Dahanu was a rejuvenating experience that reminded
us of the boundless beauty of nature and the resiliency of the human spirit. It
was a testament to the power of adventure to uplift the soul and provide a
much-needed respite from the challenges we faced during those uncertain times.
As we descended from the fort, our hearts were filled with gratitude for the
opportunity to embark on this journey, and a promise to continue seeking
moments of joy and discovery in the embrace of nature.
